Visit our farm store and find items made from the same animals you meet. And enjoy the most exquisite view on Earth as you move from pasture to pasture high on the side of Haleakala! And sometimes, high in the mountains, lucky visitors will understand where the name Cloud Castle Farm comes from, as they become surrounded by the most majestic and surreal clouds that famously enbrace the volcano. A truly magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Cloud Castle Farm - 252 Waianu Rd Kula, HI, United States

The tour begins at the entrance gate, 3600 feet above sea level, and offroad vehicles are used to slowly ascend the mountain, visiting several pastures along the way to meet, feed, pet and pose with: female sheep and their lambs, female Angora goats and their kids, female alpaca and their cria (the term for baby alpaca) - and we will see the handsome boys too, just not quite as up close and personally as the mamma's and babies.

At the top of the property, at over 4,000 feet above sea level, we arrive at the barn, where those interested can learn to milk goats and bottle feed their kids (when available), play with angora rabbits and silly chickens - and see and learn about fiber processing and rug weaving done on traditional looms. Cloud Castle Farm is actively involved in Native Forest Reforestation - and is also fully off the grid and anyone interested in homesteading, or curious about rainwater catchment, solar power generation, invasive species removal and the reintroduction of a Native hawaiian Dry Forest etc. is welcome to ask us anything about this exciting, Earth-friendly and sustainable way of life.

We will meet at the entrance to Thompson Ranch (1311 Waianu Road) and you follow us the rest of the way in (appx 1.3 miles), then we will arrive at, and park inside our front gate at check in. Hop in to our waiting farm vehicles - and we will take you up the mountain for the tour and return you back to your vehicle at the entrance when it's complete.

At the end of the tour, we return you back to your vehicles at the propertry entrance.

Close-toed shoes suitable for walking over irregular/steep/rocky terrain.

Sunscreen and/or sun hat, as you will be outdoors much of the time.

A light jacket or sweatshirt as it is often much cooler up in the clouds than it is down at the beach.

An enthusiastic love of all animals large and small!

Guests will be greeted at the entrance gate at check-in time at the bottom of the property where we will gather for introductions, a safety and behavior conversation, and an overview of the upcoming experience. Then get aboard our offroad vehicles as we climb the mountain to the barn, meeting the animals along the way.

This is a visit to a working farm, on the (sometimes steep) slopes of Mt Haleakala. Guests must be ambulatory (no wheelchairs, mobility scooters, etc.), able to get in and out of vehicles by themselves, and able to walk on sometimes rocky/steep/irregular terrain. Children must also be ambulatory - the property is not suitable for strollers. Our vehicles cannot accommodate car seats. Children under 5 are not permitted.

Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance to receive a refund.
